Finding your perfect venue is a must for any couple, it sets the scene and atmosphere for the day. Zahra and Alex chose the Royal Berkshire after visiting many more venues, they fell in love with this one and its beautiful location as well as the relaxed feel.
At our pre-wedding meeting a few months before COVID struck the UK, we laughed and giggled throughout our meeting and I just knew we were going to have the most amazing day, despite everything we did just that! Little did we all know that their journey wasn’t going to go quite as smoothly as planned.
Planning your wedding during a pandemic isn’t ideal and not knowing if it is going to be able to go ahead isn’t a nice feeling at all. There are already so many up and downs within the wedding planning process and this was not one that needed to be added in there! I can completely sympathise with Zahra and Alex as, I too am in the list of brides who have had to postpone their wedding due to the virus! It’s not the best list to be on to say the least!
Zahra and I stayed in touch regularly and talked about the different options available. A few days before they were due to get married, Zahra posted about her wedding day goals…
‘We never gave up on the idea we’d get married on the day we initially planned, however, we were realistic. We decided to reserve a new date next year without cancelling our original one. We started making contingency plans and reading guidelines for loopholes; we were just that determined. So, when they did announce on 24th June that we could have ‘30’ guests, we knew we’d go for it. It actually took a further two weeks before we had confirmation that we could get legally married, so I’m incredibly thankful to our suppliers (Thats me!!) for coping with our super short turnover and our guests’ patience in this incredibly weird situation, I feel without the positivity and kind wishes we had from everyone we wouldn’t have got here either. There’s so many reasons why we’ve made this personal decision, you have to make the right decision for yourself and I feel for all my other brides to be, it’s been a right rollercoaster of petitions, guilt and hoping! So that’s that! We are getting married this week (?) with a bigger celebration of marriage next year and I quite frankly can’t wait! Two weddings you say?! We get to experience the intimacy of an elopement and the knees up of a big party and in all, I get to spend the rest of my life with my man! ✨
Less than a week later Zahra and Alex tied the knot and are now married!!! I’m so thankful that I got to be apart of their journey and that this was my first wedding back after lockdown!
A huge CONGRATULATIONS to the new Mr & Mrs Simmonds who had the most amazing intimate wedding this year and I’m so looking forward to our wedding party next March!! Bring on the much needed bubbles… again!!
